Hardangervidda Mountain Plain
the highest mountain plain in Europe and the largest national park in Norway.

the
M/B Fjellvåken takes you on a wonderful trip across Lake Møsvatn. This is good starting point for hikes across the Hardangervidda Mountain Plain. The boat runs between Skinnarbu and Mogen Turisthytte every day in the period of 28 Juni til 31 August.
- Krossobanen: 
Northern Europe's first cable car whisks you up out of Rjukan to start your adventure at a hight of 886 metres. The top station, Gvepseborg, is an excellent base for starting your hiking or cycling adventure.

Gautatoppen 1883 m.o.h.
This mountain towers majestically over the town of Rjukan. Every year about 30.000 people climb to the top of the mountain to enjoy the fantastic view over 1/6 part of South of Norway.No mather the weather you can buy coffee, waffles and other food here at the Norwegian Mountain Touring Associations's stone cabin at the summer, which is more than 100 years old. Open in the period 22 of June, til September 15th.
-Hiking:
The beste place to start your hike is at Stavsro at 1173 m.o.h. There is a large car park with a kiosk and a toilet here. The path is clearly marked with red Ts. Most people take about 2 hours to walk up the mountain.
- Gaustatoppen - Fjellvegen (mountain road):
The mountain road, which winds along the base of Gaustatoppen between Tuddal and Rjukan, offers fantastic scenery. The road starts with a steep climb from Tuddal to the mountain Flistjønnskaret, 1260 metres high. Past this, you will see Gaustatoppen towering above you on the one side and Heddersvann Lake on the other. From Svineroi, the road leads down to Rjukan in a series of hairpin bends.
